Open Science

On 25th November 2022, the student scientific conference Open Science was held in Prague at the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The conference was attended by interns of the Department of Biobibliographic Studies and Library of the Institute of History, Lada Chorovská, Ondřej Nováček and Lucie Martináková. Lada Chorovská won the jury prize with the contribution "Bibliography is a compass in the sea of books".

Cooperation with the Knihovny.cz portal

This year, the bibliography of the history of the Czech lands fully joined the Knihovny.cz portal. The portal provides uniform access to the services of Czech and Moravian libraries.​

Meeting of the users of library systems of KP-SYS company

On November 9th, 2022, the traditional meeting of users of library systems of the KP-SYS company was held at the Institute of History of the Czech Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, which was organized together with this company by the Department of Biobibliographic Studies and Library. Representatives of KP-SYS Ing. Petr Štefan, Ing. Tomáš Krejzek, Ing. Jan Pachol and Ing. Tomáš Bydžovský summarized the activities and results of KP- SYS in 2022 and introduced new products in the Verbis and Portaro system. These were mainly the VerbisBox (self-service dispensing box) and the accessibility of the website/application for people with disabilities. During the break, the meeting participants visited the study room, where they could view interesting titles from the library collection.

Workshop Territorial administration in space and time from the Berni Rula to Palacký (mid-17th to mid-19th century in Bohemia)

A workshop took place on 21st October 2022 in Prague. The workshop presented a project on property ownership from the end of the Thirty Years' War to 1848. Participants were introduced to the sources used, the map application and the excerpting of sources from this period. The guest of the workshop was Ing. arch. Karel Kuča.

24th Colloquium of Czech, Moravian and Slovak Bibliographers

The 24th Colloquium of Czech, Moravian and Slovak bibliographers took place in the Study and Research Library in Hradec Králové from 16th to 18th October 2022. Věra Hanelová from the Department of Biobibliographic Studies and the Library of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic presented a contribution Visualization of records in the Bibliography of the History of the Czech Lands. From printed yearbooks to a modern online database.

Reorganization

Dear users, we would like to inform you that from 1. October 2022, the Historical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic underwent a reorganization of its structure. The separate Department of Historical Bibliography was incorporated into the newly created Department of Biobibliographic Studies and the Library. However, the Bibliography of the History of the Czech Lands project continues without any changes.

Study in the journal Historical Geography

Dear users, we are pleased to announce that in the Journal Historical Geography [Historická geografie] vol. 48, 2022, no. 1, pp. 51-72 was published the study Historical Topography and Geography in Bibliographic Lists of the First Half of the 20th Century. Bibliography of the Czech History as a Historical Source. The study is available here.

Visit of students of the Faculty of Education at the Charles University in Prague in the Institute of History of the CAS

On April 26, 2022 a group of students of the history from the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University visited the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The head of the Department of Historical Bibliography, Václav Horčáková, acquainted students with the history of Czech historical bibliography and with the possibilities of searching in the Bibliography of the History of the Czech Lands database.​

Stanislava Jonášová-Hájková

Dear users, we are pleased to announce that a new password has been created on Wikipedia, which is dedicated to the representative of the Czech historical bibliography, Stanislava Jonášová-Hájková (1904-1985). This prominent bibliographer, historian and high school teacher contributed significantly to the publication of the Bibliography of the Czech History (later the Bibliography of the Czechoslovak History). At first she worked on this task within the Historical Club and later at the Institute of History of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. Thank you wikipedist Jiřina K.!
