The course will focus on working with some historical databases (for example biblio.hiu.cas.cz) and computer programs, familiarization with practical guidelines on how to write student papers and scientific articles, and extending knowledge regarding the development of the Czech language.
Meeting of KP-SYS bibliography systems users
The meeting of KP-SYS bibliography systems users was held by Department of Historical Bibliography of the Institute of History, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and by KP-SYS company on November 19, 2014. Václava Horčáková presented the project Bibliography of the History of the Czech Lands, which started three years ago. Users were introduced into search options in the database, which currently contains around 350,000 records of the literature on history and related disciplines, including links to the full texts in digital libraries and full texts connected with individual records. Representatives of company KP-SYS Jan Pachol and Tomáš Krejzek then introduced news in system Verbis a catalog Portaro. The possibility of lending e-books in libraries was discussed. After lunch, head of the library of the Historical Institute, Ivana Pittnerová, guided attendees through the Library of the Institute of History.
International Colloquium of slovak, moravian and czech bibliographers was held in Malokarpatská knihovna in Pezinok (Slovakia), October 5-7, 2014. Dr. Václava Horčáková presented the paper "Jan Rychlik, historian of Czech-Slovak contacts and conflicts in the common state. Personal bibliography as a chronicle of the life and work ".

After being trained on standards and the creation of personal authorities in June 23 – 25, 2014, the Department of Historical Bibliography sent to the National Library of the Czech Republic during July and August 125 proposals for new personal authorities including the suggestions. Among the new personal authorities, which can be found in Bibliography of the History of Czech Lands and newly also in the Czech National Authority Database of the National Library , it is possible to find for example: Antiochos III., seleukovský král, ca 242-187 př. Kr. , Albrecht I., římsko-německý král, 1255-1308 , Ferdinand Antonín z Bubna a Litic, 1768-1825 , Marie Černá, 1925- , Kamil Bednář,1914-1965 , Václav Norbert Červenka, 1677-1752 , Helena Kordová, 1917-2011 and many others.

The lecture on standards of Personal Authorities and their role in bibliographic records was held in The Institute of History, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in June 23 – 25, 2014. PhDr. Zdeněk Bartl (The National Library of the Czech Republic in Prague) was the lector. Bibliographers, librarians, as well as students of History and similar branches, who work on the project Bibliography of the History of the Czech Lands, took part in this lecture. The invitation was accepted also by colleagues from The Library of the Institute of History and Academy of Sciences Library too. First two days were filled with the theory, followed by practises on the third day.

Participants of the Conference could see the poster „110 Years of Service for Czech Historical Community. Project Bibliography of the History of the Czech Lands“ prepared by Department of Historical Bibliography of The Institute of History, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The poster was situated in front of Auditorium D. It was presented in detail to the auditors by Václava Horčáková and Věra Hanelová, within the Poster Session held in Vencovsky Aula on Tuesday afternoon, May 27th. Discussion on presented poster took part on Wednesday morning, May 28.

Department of Historical Bibliography of The Institute of History, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic was represented in the working meeting by Václava Horčáková. An important item on the agenda was a cooperation system of articles bibliography (ANL), which will from 2014 also involve bibliographers of the Institute of History who will excerpt periodicals and pass bibliographic records to the Union Catalogue of the Czech Republic at the National Library. The meeting was complemented with excursions to the small hydropower plant Hučák, Episcopal library and to the new building of Municipal Library of Hradec Králové.
